Meet Kris Johnson
Candidate for Northfield City Council – Ward 1
Kris Johnson is a longtime Northfield resident, educator, and community leader who believes local government works best when it focuses on the basics: safe streets, responsible budgeting, transparent leadership, and listening to the people it serves.
Throughout her career, Kris has worked alongside students, families, and community members, building relationships based on trust, respect, and thoughtful problem-solving. With a background in counseling and years of teaching, she has developed the ability to bring people together, listen carefully, and find practical solutions to difficult challenges.

Kris is passionate about thoughtful decision-making. She enjoys studying history, learning from the successes and mistakes of those who came before us, and engaging in respectful conversations that lead to better outcomes. She believes that good leadership begins with listening and that lasting solutions come from common sense rather than political division.
As your City Council representative, Kris will work to:
- Focus on the basics—roads, infrastructure, and public safety.
- Protect taxpayers through responsible fiscal management.
- Listen first and represent every resident with fairness and respect.
- Promote transparency and accountability in city government.
- Support policies that strengthen Northfield while preserving the character that makes it a wonderful place to live.
Kris believes City Hall should serve its residents—not special interests—and is committed to being a thoughtful, accessible, and trustworthy voice for Ward 1.
